Specialisation in Natural Resource Sciences

Connecting nature, society and the economy

To ensure that natural resources remain available for future generations in sufficient quantity and quality, we need to blaze new trails.

At the interface between nature and society, innovative practical solutions for responsible stewardship of natural resources are becoming increasingly important. This requires skilled specialists with a holistic, systemic viewpoint, operating at the interface between nature and society.

Educational objectives

The focus of the study programme is on the interrelation of natural resources and social development. The perspectives of humanities and social sciences as well as natural and economic sciences are included, taking ecological responsibility, economic productivity and social solidarity into account.

To ensure that the most up-to-date and practically oriented project and research work is offered in the Master’s study programme, students are involved in current research projects at the Institute of Natural Resource Sciences. Integration into research groups offers an up-to-date learning environment and also provides ideal preparation for later professional activities.

Customised study programmes

An essential feature of the Waedenswil model is the customised study programme. To provide you with the best qualifications according to your specific interests and skills, your study programme is individually tailored. You design your personal study portfolio, comprising a variety of topics, with your tutor, who accompanies you throughout your studies. This individualised Master’s model has proven its effectiveness in Canada.
